Apart from the old Wandong township, residential lots are in the main one half to two acres (low density residential)  Wandong - Heathcote Junction is connected to a sewerage system, power and mains water.

The residents and Mitchell Shire are continually lobbying successive State Governments to honour election promises to connect Wandong -Heathcote Junction to the natural gas pipeline that runs through the town.

A 105 lot subdivision initially named Sunnyglen, now named Country Lane, was approved ten years ago. It has been vigorously opposed by the community and Mitchell Shire but several appeals to the Victorian Civil & Administrative Tribunal (VCAT) to have the size of lots increased, or include a mix of small and large lots, and to consider safety matters such as only one entrance/exit, 700 additional car movements on Affleck Street, have not been successful.  However the developer has recently returned to VCAT for an extension to the planning permit and this has been declined.  The developer will now have to submit a new plan.
