WORKING BEES

On Saturday 19th May, the WHJCG will erect a post and rail fence between the north end of the Wandong railway station platform and the road bridge over the railway line.  This is a big project and we would appreciate any help from any resident who can spare a few hours.  We will be at the project site from 8.30am and lunch, all day refreshments will be supplied.  John Axton will bore the post holes for us so the task for volunteers is to follow him with posts, rails and cement.

If you have gloves, hat, barrow, shovel we need you.

Like all volunteer groups, the WHJCG does require the support of the community and if any resident is able to assist in any way, we would be most grateful to hear from you.

If you are a teenager who would like to participate in the Pocket Money grants scheme you should contact Allen Hall on telephone 57 871 474.

THE WANDONG PUBLIC HALL

The support of the WHJCG at the Wandong Public Hall re-opening on Sunday 22nd April made the day a great success.  The WHJCG ran the free BBQ and drinks stall and through its History Group sub committee ran a fantastic history display of Wandong.  Given the great reaction from everyone who attended the history display, there are tentative plans to run an expanded "Back to Wandong" type history day at a later date.  Thanks to Di Vidal, Gwen McIntosh and Heather Flannery for running the History room display and to Shelley Hall for her tireless effort at the BBQ cooking over 25 kg of sausages and 100 burgers.  Thanks also to the ladies from the Wandong Country Music Festival committee who joined our gazebo and helped with the serving of food and drinks.  Thanks to Sandra Moran for running the food hamper and to David Moran and Rob Jensen for arranging the cars display and for constructing our worksite.  Thanks to Kylie McDonald and Ruth Laurens for running the childrens craft and activity function.  Not to be forgotten, Alan Knight and Peter Gannon of the Wandong - Heathcote Junction Neighbourhood Watch team were on hand to provide information and install number plate safety screws.  If I have forgotten any of our volunteers, I apologise.

The "guess the jellybean" competition was won by David Moran with his guess of 316 which was nearest to the actual 320 jellybeans.

The winner of the free fruit and vegetable hamper was Erica Frisch of Wandong Avenue, Wandong.

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE WINNERS AND TO OUR VOLUNTEERS FOR A GREAT EFFORT.

PETITION FOR NATURAL GAS CONNECTION

The WHJCG is still waiting (now five months) for a response from Ted Baillieu, Premier of Victoria regarding the WHJCG request for him to take personal control of the Liberal Party election promise to provide natural gas connection to Wandong - Heathcote Junction.
