NOVEMBER 2020
To all our members and families,
Wow, what a hard year! 2020 has challenged the world and unfortunately our little community footy club hasn’t been spared.
In 2019, I, along with Kev, Hayley and Tkora, were voted in to run the executive committee of our awesome club. We put our hand up in the hope that we could work our way through the significant challenge our club faced of a lack of players in the older age groups. We knew if we couldn’t get extra numbers, 2020 would be ‘our kids’ last year playing as a warrior. And unfortunately, then came COVID.
It’s with a great sadness that we now know that the Seymour league won’t run an under 16’s comp next year and therefore our children, if they wish to continue to play football, will need to find a new home. All of us still love this club.
Next Thursday the 5th of November, we will hold our AGM, this is where a new committee will need to be elected. If you have ever thought about getting involved in the community, this is an awesome chance. With the uncertainty of COVID-19 restrictions, we still are not able to confirm how and where this meeting can take place but if not in person down at the LB Davern reserve, the AGM will still go ahead.
In the meantime, I’d like to sincerely thank the rest of the committee for their hard work this year. It’s been one that hasn’t gone to plan, it’s one that we’ve had to sit on our hands, and I know no one jumped onboard to sit back and watch - but here we are. Although many won’t be part of the committee again next year, we will certainly be on hand at any time to help the new one.
If anyone would like to nominate themselves or even just discuss, please give me a call on
0458 266 244 or email me at wandongjfc@gmail.com.
Remember without a committee, the club won’t continue so I encourage you all to please get involved and help our Warriors get on the field in season 2021.
Go WARRIORS!!
